Default No More Sunspear Points!

Is there a point in the game (Nightfall of course) when you can finally stop worrying about collecting sunspear points? I hope it's soon.

I have yet to do a single mission past Istan because everytime I want to advance in the game I have to stop and kill insects for hours on end just to finish a primary quest and unlock the next quest that asks me to collect even more points...

I agree... but I solved my dislike of that part by finding an easy repeatable bunch of maybe 24 insects just outside the east transition from Yohlon Haven (I get just under 100 points per trip out, so I figure it's 24 bugs.) I went from 1k to 2.5k very quickly.

once you get general, like ~3500 points, It doesnt matter anymore, except for making rebirth sig better.

Dont worry about 3500 being a big number, because on the mainland you start getting 3-4 points per kill. Then after that (after it doesnt matter) it goes to 7 points per kill..

Yeah, I was thinking about that place but I've just been mapping in the meantime while killing wildlife. Killing two birds I guess...

Great! I was hoping for that. That's the quest I have active at the moment. I'm glad I'll be able to get on with the game soon.

Do the quests, you don't have to grind to get them.

Yeah, if you just do the quests and don't run everywhere (ie, actually kill the mobs between point a and point b), you can easily get the points. No grind required.

Same here, I just did quests and killed things along the way. By the time I finished all of them I was WAY above the minimum for general. I also rotated my lowest levelled hero when getting the EXP rewards and all of them (except maybe the dervish - I didn't bother with her too much as my main was a dervish) were level 20 by then too.

Though, you start far enough back with a foreign character that I still had to grind a little, but I do not think it was for more than an hour or so. It took longer to level the heroes to a useful level.

I took mt Tyrian Necro over first and all she's done is quest. Had no problem gaining the required 2500 for General to continue the story this way. I actually liked doing the quests as they got me to areas you would probably miss if you skip them. Now she's aiming for the 7000 point mark! Of course she just got to Vabbi last night so hopefully she will get 7000 sooner than later if the points increase to 7 now.

I like the fact that you have to farm for points, they should have a system where you get 1 kournon coin for every 5k if promotion points when you dont need the points for anything anymore.

There will be a time when you can no longer acquire Sunspear Promotion Points from creature bounties.

Therefore, you would never get your Kournan coin.

You need 2500 points to be a general and to continue on the primary quest, And a Hero Shall Lead Them. After that, you can get title of Castellan with 7500points. But that's just for the title.

Collecting the points is very easy. Just talk to priests at the rez shrine and carry all the blessings you can and you will get 2500 points in no time. Besides, a lot of quests give you 100 points in reward.

I got the points so easily I maxed out of them. Now I wish I had saved all the quest for points to do after I maxed out. I got the 7500 way befor I got to Vabbi. Now all I can get are the Lightbringer points. Makes killing all the stuff a bit less fun for me. I enjoyed watching them rack up. Basically all I did was play the game and maybe mapped a bit.

ever since i have the title of Castellan I can't get anymore sunspears points. the vabbi scouts and all the other priests wont give me something to gain anymore sunspear points. only the wishperers informants will give me something to gain lightbringer points.
i play with a tyrian based character.
does anyone know what this problem is?

It's not a problem, it's an intended feature. ANet recently told us that the Elite Mission and the opportunity to get more Sunspear points will be added within the next couple / few months.
